SOS Sahel Ethiopia has announced multiple job opportunities under the Youth Entrepreneurship for the Future of Agriculture (YEFFA Ethiopia) Project, funded by the Mastercard Foundation through Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA).
The project focuses on empowering disadvantaged Ethiopian youth by creating employment opportunities in agriculture and agro-processing sectors while strengthening horticulture and wheat value chains. The program will be implemented across selected districts of North Shewa, East Shewa, and West Shewa Zones of Oromia Region.
Available Positions:
1. Agribusiness / Value Chain Expert (Project Coordinator)
Location: Oromia Region, Ethiopia
Employment Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead youth entrepreneurship and agribusiness development initiatives.
- Strengthen horticulture and wheat value chains.
- Provide technical guidance on agronomy practices, market linkages, and sustainable farming.
- Coordinate project activities, field operations, partnerships, and reporting.
- Support youth-led agricultural enterprises through training and mentorship.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, or related fields.
- 7–10 years of experience in agribusiness, value chain development, and project management.
- Experience working with NGOs, donors, government institutions, and private sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Ethiopia’s horticulture and wheat production systems.
- Fluency in English and Afaan Oromoo is required; Amharic is an advantage.
2. Agronomy Expert
Location: Oromia Region, Ethiopia
Employment Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support on horticulture and wheat production systems.
- Promote improved farming practices, soil fertility management, irrigation, pest management, and post-harvest handling.
- Train farmers, cooperatives, and youth entrepreneurs.
- Support research, innovation, climate-smart agriculture, and digital agriculture solutions.
- Monitor productivity improvements and adoption of modern farming techniques.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science, or related fields.
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in agronomy.
- Strong expertise in horticulture and wheat production.
- Experience in farmer training, extension services, and agricultural projects.
- Fluency in English and Afaan Oromoo required; Amharic is advantageous.
3. Woreda / District Coordinator
Location: Oromia Region, Ethiopia
Employment Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate project implementation at district level.
- Mobilize and mentor youth groups engaged in agricultural enterprises.
- Organize training, workshops, and capacity-building activities.
- Monitor project progress and prepare reports.
- Build partnerships with government offices, communities, cooperatives, and private sector actors.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Plant Science, Horticulture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project coordination, agriculture, youth development, or community mobilization.
- Knowledge of horticulture and wheat production practices.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- English and Afaan Oromoo proficiency required; Amharic is an advantage.
