Security Assistant

Job Purpose: To perform a range of specialized and process-oriented responsibilities related to security operations, including monitoring and maintaining security equipment in line with established procedures at the Gode sub-office.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in reviewing security threats and risks, compile accurate reports on trends to ensure information is accurately collated to support decision-making.
  • Review security-related information and use corporate/local tools to provide basic analyses and reports.
  • Liaise and coordinate with local administration, security authorities, communities, and UN/NGO security staff to facilitate safe program delivery.
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and conducting field missions, including tracking of staff and performing regular security assessments.
  • Prepare ad hoc and weekly security assessment reports with risk mitigation recommendations.
  • Assist in implementing security risk management mitigating measures, including Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS).
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of security equipment.
  • Monitor that all access control procedures are stringently followed by staff and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum requirement is the completion of secondary school education. A first-level University Degree is desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive work in security.
  • Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and the Somali language is an absolute must.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Prior experience with the UN system or international NGOs.
  • Applied knowledge of security operations technical processes.
  • Skills in Compliance, Investigation, Accountability, and Record Maintenance.
  • Proficient in the use of office equipment and MS Office (Word).
