Role description

United Nations Economic Commission for Africa Economic Commission for Africa Careers: The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is committed to advancing inclusion, gender parity, and diversity in its workforce. This internship will offer a unique opportunity to contribute to ECA’s diversity, equity, and inclusion agenda, particularly in relation to improving outreach strategies and supporting inclusive recruitment practices.

Position: Intern- Communications

Internship Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet one of the following conditions:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in Journalism, Communication, Media Relations, Languages, Digital Social Media, or a related field; or
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Journalism, Communication, Media Relations, Languages, Digital Social Media, or a related field.

Experience:
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, applicants must have a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship for which they are applying.

Applicants must be:

  • In the final year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent);
  • Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme or equivalent; or
  • Have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD programme.

Applicants who meet the above criteria will be required to indicate the applicable criterion and attach proof to their application. An official certificate may be required at a later stage of the recruitment process.
