UNICEF is recruiting a WASH Officer (NO-2) under a six-month Temporary Appointment in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. The position supports WASH emergency preparedness and response programmes in the Amhara Region and is open to Ethiopian nationals only .

Role Overview
The WASH Officer will work under the supervision and guidance of a WASH Specialist and provide technical, operational, and administrative support for WASH emergency preparedness and response activities in the Amhara Region.
The role covers programme planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, field operations, partner coordination, and technical support related to WASH in emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Development and Planning
Support WASH situation analysis and research on sector trends and needs. Prepare technical reports and programme documentation. Contribute to WASH programme strategies, outcomes, and outputs. Provide technical and administrative support throughout programme implementation. Prepare documentation required for programme review and approval.
Programme Management and Monitoring
Work with colleagues and partners to identify implementation issues and support solutions. Participate in monitoring, evaluation, programme reviews, and sector reviews. Monitor the use of programme resources and compliance with relevant procedures and commitments. Prepare progress reports for management, donors, and partners.
Technical and Field Support
Conduct field visits and surveys and share findings with relevant partners. Identify and report critical issues, bottlenecks, and potential programme risks. Provide technical support to government counterparts, NGOs, UN partners, and other stakeholders on WASH policies, strategies, processes, and practices.
Humanitarian WASH Response
Contribute to WASH reporting under UNICEF's humanitarian monitoring and reporting requirements. Prepare requisitions for supplies, services, and partnership arrangements to support emergency readiness. Support emergency response and early-recovery activities when required.
Partnerships and Capacity Building
Maintain working relationships with government counterparts and other stakeholders. Support WASH advocacy and communication activities. Participate in relevant inter-agency coordination and planning activities. Support resource mobilization and partnership development. Contribute to WASH research, innovation, learning products, and capacity-building activities.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Education
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent first-level university degree in one of the following fields:
Public Health Social Science Sanitary Engineering Environmental Sciences Civil Engineering Behavior Change Communication A related field
Work Experience
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in WASH, WASH programmes, programme monitoring, emergency response management, field operations, or related areas.

Fluency in English is required.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
