About UNDP & AFSIT
The Regional Programme for Africa is a flagship initiative of UNDP, aligned with the African Union Agenda 2063 and the UNDP Strategic Plan 2026‑2029.
The Africa Facility to Support Inclusive Transitions (AFSIT) is a joint initiative of the African Union Commission (AUC) and UNDP, established to strengthen governance, promote stability, and ensure peaceful political transitions across Africa. AFSIT emphasizes inclusivity, empowering civil society, women, youth, and marginalized groups in political processes.
Position Purpose
The Programme Analyst will report to the AFSIT Programme Specialist at the UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA). The role supports the implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of AFSIT projects, including:
BRIDGE Project – Promoting gender‑responsive governance and advancing women’s leadership (Guinea‑Bissau, South Sudan, The Gambia). Rebuilding the Social Contract in the Sahel – Strengthening inclusive governance and trust between citizens and state institutions (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger).
Duties and Responsibilities
Programme Implementation & Coordination: Support delivery of BRIDGE and Sahel projects, organize peer exchanges, and strengthen women & youth platforms. Monitoring & Reporting: Track programme progress, prepare donor reports, and ensure documentation compliance. Partnership Engagement: Coordinate with UNDP Country Offices, AU, RECs, CSOs, and donors; support resource mobilization. Knowledge Management: Develop toolkits, policy briefs, and analytical reports; document lessons learned. Operational Support: Assist with procurement, recruitment, and financial monitoring.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Governance, Public Policy, or related field (minimum 2 years’ experience). OR Bachelor’s degree in related field (minimum 4 years’ experience). Experience: Programme implementation, monitoring, and reporting in international development. Knowledge of African political transitions and governance (asset). Experience with AU, RECs, CSOs, or UN agencies (asset). Languages: Fluency in English required; French highly desirable.
