In this role, the Country Lead will help expand the organization's reach in Ethiopia by implementing growth strategies, developing partnerships, strengthening market presence, and collaborating with teams working in content, education, research, digital products, and impact measurement.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy Implementation and Market Expansion
Implement country-specific and regional expansion strategies in collaboration with the Director of Growth and the Market Entry and Expansion Manager. Develop and manage market entry and expansion plans across testing, entry, growth, and expansion phases. Identify opportunities to increase Ubongo's reach and impact in Ethiopia. Monitor progress and adapt work plans and strategies based on market feedback and performance metrics.
2. Partnership Development and Relationship Management
Build and maintain relationships with traditional and non-traditional broadcasting and distribution partners. Represent Ubongo at relevant industry events, forums, and meetings to strengthen its visibility and credibility. Engage with education-sector partners and government stakeholders as required. Organize and co-lead field activities in collaboration with other teams.
3. Marketing and Brand Development
Provide market insights to support brand development. Collaborate with marketing teams to develop country-relevant campaigns that increase brand awareness, loyalty, and uptake. Strengthen brand awareness, trust, and loyalty among caregivers, children, educators, and other target audiences. Identify local influencers, media outlets, and community channels to expand brand presence.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Identify, develop, and maintain business development opportunities and relationships. Coordinate with content, education, research, and digital teams to align expansion activities with product development and impact goals. Work with the monitoring and evaluation team to track and report reach, engagement, and audience impact. Contribute regional insights and partner success stories to support fundraising and reporting activities.
5. Organizational Responsibilities

Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree. Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in areas such as education, project management, media and broadcasting, marketing and communications, or business development. Local Market Knowledge: Good understanding of Ethiopia's media and education ecosystems, including the ability to communicate local market conditions and opportunities. Communication Skills: Strong written and spoken English proficiency and proficiency in major local language(s), with the ability to engage and persuade stakeholders at different levels. Relationship Management: Ability to build, maintain, and leverage relationships with partners, communities, government stakeholders, and internal teams. Strategic and Business Skills: Ability to identify growth opportunities, support market expansion, and contribute to budgeting and financial reporting. Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to lead effectively across teams, work with stakeholders at different organizational levels, and collaborate in a diverse work environment. Planning and Organization: Strong planning, coordination, and organizational skills to manage multiple activities and stakeholders. Problem-Solving: Proactive, solution-oriented approach, with sound decision-making and the ability to address challenges independently. Adaptability: Ability to work independently, adapt to changing circumstances, and interact effectively with people from different cultural and professional backgrounds. Technical Skills: Computer literacy and basic knowledge of Google Suite and cloud-based collaboration tools. Experience or familiarity with remote collaboration platforms such as Slack and Asana is relevant. Work Arrangement and Travel
