Role description

The Ethiopian Media Women Association (EMWA) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, and non-profit organization established in 1999. EMWA is dedicated to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment within the media sector and beyond. The association works to amplify the voices of women and girls, advocate for their rights, and increase their representation and participation in media content, production, and leadership.

EMWA engages in a range of activities including capacity building for women media professionals, gender-sensitive journalism training, advocacy against gender-based violence (GBV), and promoting ethical and inclusive media practices. The organization also implements media campaigns and community outreach programs aimed at challenging harmful gender norms and advancing the role of women in society.

Through partnerships with local and international stakeholders, EMWA strives to create a media landscape that is inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the needs and rights of women and girls across Ethiopia.

EMWA is hiring for the following positions:

01. Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia   |   Deadline: September 8, 2026

  • Salary: Based on EMWA’s organizational salary scale

Position Summary

The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing systems to track project performance, measure outcomes, and ensure accountability. The role supports evidence-based decision-making and contributes to organizational learning and continuous improvement across programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop M&E Frameworks: Support EMWA in designing indicators, tools, and methodologies to measure project outputs, outcomes, and impact for existing projects and newly developed project. Follow up and document the results.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate software, coordinate surveys, interviews, and field assessments; ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports, learning, evaluation summaries, and recommendations for management and stakeholders.
  • Capacity Building: Train staff on M&E tools, data management, and reporting standards.
  • Learning & Adaptation: Facilitate reflection sessions, document lessons learned, and integrate findings into project planning.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to donor requirements, organizational policies, and ethical standards in data collection.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in M&E, preferably in development, media, or advocacy projects.
  • Strong skills in data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and report writing skills.
  • Knowledge of gender-sensitive and inclusive evaluation approaches is an asset.
