About the Position
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Project Associate, the selected candidates will support the implementation of reintegration projects. The role may also provide additional support to other Protection projects and teams and contribute to coordination with other programmatic units.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Associate will:
Conduct individual meetings with eligible returnees to identify their needs and capacities and support the development of integrated reintegration plans. Participate in remote pre-departure sessions when requested. Coordinate with sending missions on reintegration assistance, including eligibility, assistance levels, reintegration plans, and payment validation. Refer migrants to relevant specialized services and conduct case follow-up and monitoring. Maintain beneficiary case files and update mission tracking tools and IOM's Migrant Management Operational System Application (MiMOSA). Verify returnee data and profile information for accuracy and completeness before database entry. Prepare and undertake field missions related to reintegration activities, training, local procurement, and beneficiary/project monitoring. Support administrative coordination with procurement and finance units. Coordinate with government and non-government counterparts at zonal and woreda levels. Identify delivery shortfalls and report them to the supervisor and relevant sending missions. Participate in the selection of Implementing Partners and provide guidance on IOM and project requirements. Participate in activities related to Community-Based Planning (CBP). Support capacity development activities, including assessments, training materials, training facilitation, and document preparation and review. Support reports on reintegration activities and contribute to new project proposals based on lessons learned. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
Education
Applicants should meet one of the following qualification pathways:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited academic institution in Economics, Management, Social Work, International Relations, Political Science, Humanitarian Affairs, Economic Development, Business or Public Administration, International Studies, or a related field, with 3 years of relevant experience ; or School diploma with 5 years of relevant experience .
Relevant Experience
Candidates should have:
Experience working closely with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups, including counseling and referral pathways. Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with government counterparts. Experience in return and reintegration, including within Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) schemes, or relevant experience in livelihood or protection programming. Previous experience with UN and international agencies, international or local NGOs, international organizations, private-sector entities, or other relevant partners is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. Ability to supervise and collaborate effectively with colleagues. Good understanding of social protection and/or migration issues, particularly migrants' rights and protection, is a strong advantage.
Language Requirements
Required:
Fluency in Amharic and English , both oral and written.
Desirable:
Afan Oromo Tigrigna
Language proficiency may be evaluated through written and/or oral assessments during the selection process.
