Movement Operations are a core pillar of IOM’s work, ensuring safe and organized travel for migrants and refugees under resettlement and migration assistance programs.
Position: Movement Operations Associate
Responsibilities
Coordinate, schedule, and book travel for migrants and refugees. Organize bookings in line with IOM tariffs and SOPs. Compile and analyze movement statistics; prepare travel loan paperwork. Create movement data files and ensure accountability. Assign escorts for vulnerable individuals. Process exit permissions and travel documents. Conduct identity verification and distribute travel documentation. Provide pre‑departure counselling and address special needs. Support inventory control, reporting, and compliance with IOM standards. Undertake duty travel for meetings, trainings, and program activities.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma with 5 years of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, International Relations, Regional Studies, or related field with 3 years of experience. Experience: Prior movement operations or transportation management experience preferred. Experience with IOM systems and resettlement programs. Experience guiding junior staff and communicating with beneficiaries. Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to work independently under pressure. Team leadership skills. Languages: Fluency in English and Amharic required.
