Role description
Building upon 12 years of leadership J H Simex Private Limited Company is a combination of three companies that currently own and manage Real Estate, J H Simex Tour & Travel and a Five Star Intercontinental Addis Hotel.
J H Simex is a leading company with a 152 luxuriously furnished hotel rooms, 42 furnished apartments, 13 conference halls which accommodate more than 2,000 guests at a time, Bistro Café, Night Club, 360 Degree Revolving Restaurant and many more facilities within the two buildings. The Intercontinental Addis Hotel was built at a cost of 320 million birr in its first phase investment, on a 2400 square meters plot which opened in October 2008. The second building which is also part of the hotel was built at a cost of 200 million birr, on a 3,500 square meters plot which just recently opened January 2017.
Founded by Mr Semachew Kebede Kassa the company is headquartered at the heart of Kazanchis Area in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This has created job opportunities for 378 employees. Intercontinental Addis Hotel has been awarded in 2014 and 2016 for the Luxury Business Hotel in Ethiopia. This award serves as recognition of sustained commitment to excellence in outstanding achievement in the international luxury hospitality industry.
Position 1: F&B DIRECTOR
POSITION SUMMARY
- The Food & Beverage Director is responsible for coordinating all aspects of group meetings and banquet functions held at the hotel. This role involves daily management of these activities, assisting clients with program planning and menu selection, as well as overseeing all restaurant and food and beverage operations and staff.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, Hotel and Tourism Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as an F&B Manager or Director.
- Excellent knowledge of food & beverage technical & practical skills accompanied by a great customer service orientation, highly sensitive to cost, able to work under pressure with multiple tasks & workload, and acquired excellent leadership skills
- Highly cost-sensitive, able to work under pressure while managing multiple tasks and workloads.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Proficiency in computer systems, particularly Opera and Micros systems.
- Highly motivated and passionate about the role.
Position 2: FINANCE DIRECTOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
The individual in this role is responsible for enhancing the profitability of the hotel business by implementing effective financial strategies and monitoring performance metrics. This includes maintaining accurate and timely financial reports to provide a clear overview of the hotel’s financial health. They must also establish and uphold appropriate levels of internal control to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure operational efficiency. Additionally, the individual must ensure strict compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, staying informed about legal requirements to mitigate risks and uphold the hotel’s reputation in the industry.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance
- Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience as Finance Director, Finance Manager in a 4*/5* international hotel
- Strategic thinker with extensive knowledge in planning & forecasting
- Computer literate, including systems implementation & knowledge of SUN, Opera & Micros
- Outstanding leadership competencies, including skills in training, coaching & motivating
- Strong technical accounting, finance & taxation skills.
- Preparation, review, analysis & presentation of management & statutory reporting.
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels.
Position 3: Sales & Marketing Manager
REPORTS TO: Sales & Marketing Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Manager of Sales & Marketing is responsible for managing the implementation of the hotel’s sales and marketing strategies and achieving budgeted top line revenue for the hotel. The role is responsible for maximizing profitability for the hotel and ensuring delivery of outstanding quality service for all customers.
PREREQUISITES:
- High degree of commercial awareness and be able to understand links between sales and profit with excellent sales and negotiation skills. Good business sense and the ability to motivate and lead a team.
Job Requirement
- Great Leadership & Managerial skill and an excellent team player Great interpersonal skill, communication skill and passion for the industry Great skill in computer and able to work with Microsoft office and other programs
- Fluent in spoken & written English, additional language skill is advantageous
- Ability to assess the market and work to increase the hotel’s share of business
Education:
- Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Hospitality Management, or related filed
Experience:
- At 4years’ experience as sales and marketing Manager
Position 4: Front Office Supervisor
Job Requirements
- BA/ Diploma/ Degree in Front Office or Hotel Management or any related filed.
- Having two and more than years’ work experience in an international Hotel (4*5*) by supervision or team leader
- Excellent knowledge front office operation, the ability to supervise and ensure efficient and smooth operation to produce excellent guest satisfaction.
- Experience of motivating and leading a winning team
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skill English and Amharic or any other language
- Excellent customer service skills and knowledge of opera system

Position 5: F&B Supervisor
Job Requirements
- Degree/ Diploma in Food & Beverage from a recognized Hotel Institute or College.
- At least 3 and above years of work experience in a 5 or 4-star Hotel an F&B supervisor.

- Great leadership skills and an excellent team player
- Great interpersonal skills and Passion for the industry
- Very good understanding of F&B Operation
- Working knowledge and strong skills in F&B and event functions.
Position 6: Sous Chef
Job Requirements
- Having a Diploma in Food Preparation or a Level IV program in Food Production supervision
- Having three years or above of hotel experience in a 5-star international/brand hotel.
- Good communication skills in both Amharic and English language
- Able to work as a team and on a Flexible schedule
- Good understanding of food cost and able to design a menu
- Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and occupational health and safety standards will be essential
