Role Summary
The Research Officer II – Gender will support gender‑responsive and gender‑transformative research across three major initiatives:
ACCEL‑3R (water retention, recharge, and reuse) CGIAR Science Program on Animal and Aquatic Foods (SAAF) CGIAR Gender Accelerator
The role involves fieldwork, mixed‑methods research, data analysis, evidence generation on women’s empowerment, and strengthening gender research capacity with national partners.
Key Responsibilities
Implement gender‑responsive and gender‑transformative research interventions. Lead qualitative and quantitative fieldwork (surveys, FGDs, KIIs, participatory methods). Integrate gender and social inclusion across crops, livestock, water, and aquatic food systems. Generate evidence on gender norms, women’s empowerment, and inclusive innovation adoption. Represent ICARDA/CGIAR in workshops, conferences, and consultations. Build partnerships with NGOs and strengthen national partners’ gender research capacity. Support monitoring, evaluation, learning, and donor reporting. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Rural Development, Economics, Human Geography, or related fields.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in gender, climate change, agriculture, livestock, water, or food systems research.
Skills:
Strong understanding of gender‑transformative approaches and women’s empowerment frameworks. Excellent communication, writing, and teamwork skills. Ability to manage mixed‑methods research and fieldwork.
