Job Requirements
Education
LL.B. degree. Knowledge of and strong interest in International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law . Completion of or ongoing LLM studies in these fields is a strong advantage.
Skills and Experience
Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and communication skills. Ability to work on legal and operational matters. Participation in national, regional, or international IHL competitions is an advantage. Experience in human rights or criminal law moot courts is a strong advantage. Ability to work under tight schedules and meet deadlines. Proficiency in English and Amharic . Knowledge of additional international or local languages is an added advantage.
General Duties
The Legal Intern is expected to:
Understand and adhere to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Understand and adhere to the ICRC Code of Conduct. Understand the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Respect staff regulations and security rules at all times. Represent the ICRC professionally. Develop and maintain a positive and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers. Perform duties with a high level of confidentiality in the interest of employees and the ICRC. Provide support to other departments or perform additional tasks when required.
