The position is part of the EChiLiBRiST clinical trial , which evaluates L-Citrulline oral supplementation to improve outcomes in admitted febrile pediatric patients at high risk of adverse outcomes.

About the Job
Hararghe Health Research (HHR) is a collaborative effort between Haramaya University and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine focused on maternal and child health studies that support programs and policy.
The Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator will support the EChiLiBRiST clinical trial and will be responsible for clinical participant monitoring, data collection, study procedures, and compliance with the study protocol, Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and applicable ethical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Screen children for eligibility according to defined study criteria. Initiate and oversee informed consent procedures with parents or legal guardians. Enroll eligible participants in the study. Conduct initial and follow-up clinical evaluations of admitted patients. Monitor participants for adverse outcomes and readmission. Assess and manage adverse events and serious adverse events and report them according to the study protocol. Ensure appropriate standard of care is provided to participants. Oversee administration of assigned study supplements to randomized participants. Monitor participant tolerability and outcomes. Oversee the collection of biological samples at specified timepoints. Accurately record clinical information and study data in Case Report Forms. Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of patient information. Ensure participants and caregivers follow study procedures and follow-up schedules while in the hospital.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Medical Doctor (MD) degree.
Experience
Minimum experience required: 0 years . Experience in general practice, particularly with pediatric patients, clinical research, or clinical trials is an advantage.
Mandatory Requirements
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification. Medical license.
Skills
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills in pediatrics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact sensitively with patients and their families. Strong attention to detail in data collection and documentation. Ability to work effectively as part of a research team. Proficiency in English and relevant local languages, including Afan Oromo and Amharic.
Knowledge
Familiarity with clinical trial processes. Knowledge of ethical guidelines applicable to research.
Work Location
The position will primarily be based at Haramaya Hospital and Hiwot Fana Hospital in Haramaya and Harar, Ethiopia.
