G.A. Engineering is a private company established in 2010 that specializes in the supply and installation of electromechanical and related equipment in Ethiopia.
GA Engineering is currently inviting qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the following finance and accounting positions in Addis Ababa .
1. Senior Accountant
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Salary: Negotiable Experience: Minimum 8 years
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Accounting & Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with a strong accounting focus. Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an MBA is an advantage but not mandatory. Ability to supervise finance staff, assign tasks, review performance, and support staff development. High standards of accuracy, accountability, and confidentiality. Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS. Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, regulations, and tax documentation. Knowledge of tax administration. Understanding of BOQs, variation orders, retention money, contract accounting, and revenue recognition. Experience with subcontractor payments and certifications. Experience providing financial support to project managers and engineers. Understanding of LC settlements, customs duties, bonded warehouse duty deferrals, and foreign exchange transactions.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable local requirements. Manage and maintain the company’s Peachtree (Sage 50) accounting system. Customize charts of accounts, modules, and reporting structures to meet construction and engineering requirements. Manage tax, revenue, and customs compliance. Prepare and file income tax, VAT, and withholding tax returns in accordance with applicable Ethiopian requirements. Liaise with tax and customs authorities regarding audits, clarifications, and compliance matters. Monitor changes in tax laws and customs regulations and support their application to business operations. Coordinate internal and external audits. Provide supporting schedules, documentation, and explanations during audits and reviews. Follow up on audit recommendations and strengthen finance processes. Prepare financial forecasts and financial status reports for management. Follow up on payments and collections. Develop and maintain the financial management framework.
2. Finance Manager
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Salary: Negotiable Experience: Minimum 10 years
Education and Qualifications
MA or BA degree from a recognized university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in financial management and budgeting, with a strong accounting focus. Strong leadership and analytical skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder-engagement skills. Knowledge and experience in tax administration. Proficiency in GAAP and IFRS. Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, regulations, and tax documentation. Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Experience in a construction service supply company is an advantage. Understanding of LC settlements, customs duties, bonded warehouse duty deferrals, and foreign exchange transactions.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and control the company’s accounting, costing, and budgeting functions. Establish, monitor, and evaluate accounts receivable and accounts payable processes. Prepare financial reports and cost analyses to support management decision-making. Oversee general accounting records, costing, budgeting, and expenditure control. Advise management on financial operations, budget utilization, and cost-control measures. Report to the General Manager on budgeting, accounting, costing, and financial performance. Monitor cash flow to ensure the company can meet its financial obligations and commitments. Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and management information reports. Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor performance against approved budgets. Identify and report budget variances. Supervise the accounting team and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions. Approve cheques, disbursements, and other financial documents within delegated authority. Coordinate external audits of the company’s financial operations. Support the drafting, negotiation, and management of contractual agreements with clients and vendors. Prepare and manage the Finance Department’s annual budget. Provide financial information and support to the Human Capital Department when required. Supervise, guide, and develop finance department staff. Strengthen finance processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations. Perform other related duties assigned by management.
