Since 2008, Digital Green has reached over 3.6 million farmers across Ethiopia. In partnership with the Ethiopian Government’s agricultural extension system, we have trained more than 20,400 frontline extension workers using video-based learning channels and innovative digital solutions like FarmerChat—an AI-powered agricultural assistant delivering real-time advice in farmers’ local languages.

Job Overview

Digital Green is seeking a results-driven Field Coordinator based in Jimma (Limu Kosa Woreda). Reporting to the Project Manager, you will oversee field-level agricultural initiatives designed to boost coffee and maize productivity and increase smallholder farmers’ incomes in the Jimma Zone.

In this role, you will work closely with local government partners, cooperatives, Development Agents (DAs), financial institutions, and community groups to deliver video-based training, facilitate input credit, and scale digital advisories.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution & Strategy

  • Work directly with the Project Manager to implement annual work plans and achieve target deliverables.

  • Track project progress and ensure activities align with established timelines and research protocols.

2. FarmerChat & Digital Advisory Rollout

  • Support the implementation and kebele-level rollout of FarmerChat.

  • Train Development Agents (DAs) to onboard farmers and deliver AI-driven agricultural advisories to digitally constrained households.

  • Monitor platform usage, farmer engagement, and ensure adherence to Randomized Control Trial (RCT) research designs (maintaining treatment vs. control group integrity).

3. Video-Based Agronomy Training

  • Coach and train woreda partner staff to produce high-quality instructional videos on coffee and maize agronomy.

  • Coordinate video production and facilitate community training sessions for smallholder farmers.

  • Evaluate the adoption and impact of video-based extension services.

4. Input Access & Credit Facilitation

  • Partner with local financial institutions, cooperatives, and suppliers to facilitate agricultural input credit.

  • Help farmers access quality agricultural inputs and provide guidance on optimal usage to maximize yields.

5. Group Empowerment (SHGs & HPGs)

  • Support the formation and operational capacity of Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Honey Producer Groups (HPGs).

  • Deliver technical training on agricultural income generation, agribusiness entrepreneurship, and the honey value chain.

6. Monitoring, Evaluation, & Quality Assurance

  • Perform quality audits during video disseminations and field activities at the Kebele level.

  • Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) team to collect impact data, document case studies, and record success stories.

Job Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in NGO project implementation or agricultural development programs.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in coffee and maize agronomy, agricultural extension, and farmer training. Experience with ICT for Agriculture (ICT4Ag) is highly preferred.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in Afaan Oromo and English is required.

  • Digital & Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and cloud-based applications.

  • Soft Skills: Proven ability to collaborate with government officials, local communities, and diverse stakeholders.
