About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct appropriate market research to source operational goods and services at the best value for money to generate cost savings for the organization.
  • Strengthen the organization's supplier database through ongoing market research.
  • Evaluate current market prices to estimate financial savings achieved through the procurement team.
  • Maintain long-term business relationships with the organization's suppliers and identify and establish new supplier relationships for new or existing products.
  • Manage end-to-end procurement of a variety of items
  • Manage tenders and quote collection for competitive supplier selection for all orders. Participate in bid opening committee meetings.
  • Manage and monitor procurement contracts. Execute requests for quotes, vendor selection, and purchasing in Addis Ababa & Wolita Sodo
  • Negotiate the best prices and payment terms for all purchased goods and services to ensure cost savings for the organization;
  • Build strong relationships with requesting departments.
  • Ensure OTIF KPIs stay close to 90%
  • For complex procurements such as seeds, create and manage a megadoc for each item
  • Develop a calendar that includes every single step of the procurement, with appropriate support activities, links to deliverables, and estimates buffer time until delivery
  • Develop a deep understanding of the item, particularly in the case of seed. Research harvest times, moisture, quality metrics, varieties, harvest locations, and more to become a full expert on each seed type
  • Recruit and manage experts on the ground to check harvest sites, monitor harvest progress, ensure proper processing, and check quality
  • Engage with vendors from different regions, interviewing them to assess their understanding of the product and ability to produce quality and volume
  • Manage the complexities of the vendor relationship throughout the process, handling price changes, quality issues, meeting quarantine requirements, etc.
  • Run quality control at multiple stages, ensuring that every bag passes quality requirements
  • Ensure that goods are received or services are delivered on time to meet established delivery deadlines.
  • Collect all purchasing documentation from suppliers and share it with the finance team on time.
  • Improve customer satisfaction through proactive communications - constantly keep requestors informed of the status of their requests.
  • Direct or support on the execution of various procurement projects.
  • Work with internal departments to develop procurement plans for their various projects.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of work experience in a related field.
  • Experience or education in procurement/supply chain/logistics or any related field
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Skills in Google Suite
    • Experience with Google Sheets is preferred
  • Basic data and digital analysis skills
  • Language: English and Amharic required
