Position: Clearance Staff – Office Assistant

Education

  • College Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or higher qualification in a relevant field.

Experience

  • Previous experience in customs clearance, logistics, freight forwarding, import-export operations, or related areas is preferred.

The Clearance Staff will be responsible for facilitating customs clearance processes, preparing and reviewing import documentation, coordinating with customs authorities and freight agents, and ensuring timely delivery of imported goods. The role also involves maintaining accurate records and supporting financial reconciliation activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, organize, and verify customs clearance documents for imported goods.
  • Communicate with customs officers, freight forwarders, and logistics agents regarding shipment clearance and delivery status.
  • Maintain accurate records of customs documentation and transactions.
  • Support the finance department by providing customs-related documents for reconciliation purposes.
  • Resolve day-to-day customs clearance issues efficiently.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with local authorities and business partners.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations and company procedures.

Language Skills

  • Proficiency in both English and Amharic.
  • Excellent listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
  • Ability to accurately translate and communicate information between English and Amharic.

Technical and Personal Skills

  • Good computer proficiency, particularly in office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good organizational and record-keeping abilities.
