Currently, the CURE Children’s Hospital of Ethiopia is officially inviting highly qualified, disciplined, and motivated applicants to apply for the critical position of Security Guard Lead. This role is fundamental to maintaining the secure, welcoming, and peaceful environment necessary for our clinical teams to operate and for our young patients to recover safely.

Primary Duties of the Security Guard Lead

The Security Guard Lead is an incredibly visible and essential hospital employee. Serving as the primary point of contact at access points, this individual is often the very first person greeting patients, anxious families, and official visitors when they enter the facility. The successful candidate is explicitly expected to protect people, hospital property, confidential medical information, and the overarching reputation of the hospital within the premises.

• Emergency Response & Crisis Management: Must be highly trained to respond rapidly and effectively to any security emergencies, medical alerts, or safety hazards within the hospital or general healthcare setting.
• Premises Patrol & Monitoring: Strictly responsible for consistently policing and patrolling hospital buildings, patient wards, and exterior grounds to actively prevent incidents of fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized or illegal entry.
• Conflict De-escalation & Support: Required to proactively assist doctors, nurses, and medical staff in managing emotionally distressed, unruly, or uncooperative visitors and patients. The lead guard plays a vital role in peacefully alleviating tension to maintain the hospital’s optimal safety standards and peaceful working environment.
• Team Leadership: Will act as the senior security figure on duty, providing guidance, shift supervision, and operational directions to other security personnel to ensure comprehensive facility-wide safety protocols are maintained.

Required Qualifications & Core Competencies

• Educational Background: Candidates must have successfully completed their 10+ and/or 12th-grade national examinations. Valid educational certificates will be requested during the interview phase.
• Professional Experience: A minimum of 1 to 2 years of proven, hands-on experience in a relevant field as security personnel is strictly required. This experience must ideally be within a fast-paced Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) or a high-traffic hospital and clinical setting where crowd control and patient privacy are paramount.
• Leadership & Military Background: Senior-level experience in security management or team coordination is required. Candidates possessing a verifiable military or police background are highly preferable, as the intense discipline and situational awareness acquired in those fields directly translate to hospital security leadership.
• Clearance & Integrity: Due to the sensitive nature of working in a pediatric hospital, candidates must be able to provide a clean, official criminal record check (police clearance) to prove their background is unblemished.
• Soft Skills: Must possess exceptionally strong organizational, observational, and interpersonal communication skills to interact respectfully with vulnerable patients while firmly enforcing hospital regulations.
