FC Africa, formerly First Consult, is a regional development organization operating across East Africa. The transition to FC Africa reflects the organization’s substantial growth in regional reach, technical expertise, and service offerings since its establishment in 2006. Alongside FC Development and FC Investment, we operate through a unified model that blends development resources, investment capital, and advisory services. FC Development delivers grants, guarantees, and technical assistance, while FC Investment supports enterprise financing, investment readiness, and capital mobilization. FC Africa operates a centralized communications function that supports the organization and its programmes by ensuring consistent messaging, strong organizational positioning, donor visibility, and high-quality communication products. POSITION SUMMARY The Communications Officer will strengthen strategic communications across FC Africa and its programmes. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the role will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, increasing organizational visibility, strengthening stakeholder engagement, documenting programme impact, and ensuring compliance with donor branding and communication requirements. Working closely with programme teams, technical specialists, and the communications team, the Communications Officer will translate complex technical work into compelling stories and knowledge products that demonstrate impact and position FC Africa as a leading regional development organization. The role requires a strategic communicator who can anticipate communication needs, identify opportunities to showcase programme results, coordinate campaigns and events, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Communications Develop key messages and communication approaches aligned with organizational priorities and donor requirements. Identify opportunities to increase organizational visibility and strengthen stakeholder engagement. Advise programme teams on communication opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. Content Development and Knowledge Management Develop high-quality communication and knowledge products, including success stories, case studies, newsletters, publications, blogs, brochures, presentations, speeches, and annual reports. Translate technical programme outputs into compelling communication products for diverse audiences. Coordinate photography, videography, beneficiary stories, and other multimedia content. Support documentation and dissemination of organizational learning and programme impact. Media, Digital Communications and Events Develop and maintain relationships with media and strategic partners. Draft press releases, media advisories, and briefing materials. Manage digital communication channels, including website content and social media. Coordinate communication activities for launches, campaigns, workshops, conferences, and other corporate and programme events. Donor Visibility and Brand Management Ensure compliance with donor branding and visibility requirements. Maintain consistency in FC Africa’s brand across all communication products. Coordinate the production of donor visibility materials and communication assets. Monitoring and Reporting Monitor communication performance using relevant metrics and analytics. Prepare monthly and quarterly communication reports. Maintain a repository of communication and knowledge products. Recommend improvements based on communication performance and stakeholder feedback. About You The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement skills. EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Marketing, or a related field. EXPERIENCE Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in impact and development communications Demonstrated experience developing and implementing communication strategies for donor-funded programmes. Excellent English writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and engaging manner. Experience producing communication and knowledge products for diverse audiences. Proficiency in content management systems, digital communication platforms, and communication design tools. Knowledge of social media management, analytics, and digital engagement strategies. The Communications Officer reports to the Director of Operations
