Position: Purchaser

Education:

  • BA Degree in Procurement and Supplies Management or related fields.

Experience:

  • 2 years of work experience in Supply Chain or Procurement Officer or related activities. 

Purpose of the Job: 

To ensure the timely, efficient, transparent, and cost-effective procurement of goods and services required for the smooth operation of Awash Wine Farm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the procurement process for goods and services required for the daily operations of Awash Wine Farm, ensuring compliance with established procurement policies and procedures.
  • Receive and consolidate purchase requests from relevant departments and verify that the required specifications, quantities, approvals, and supporting documents are available.
  • Prepare procurement documents, including requests for quotations, comparative price analyses, purchase orders, and other relevant purchasing documents, as applicable.
  • Ensure that purchases are made from approved suppliers and that the required authorization is obtained before placing orders.
  • Collect pro forma invoices, quotations, and purchased goods from suppliers in Adama and local markets around Awash Wine Farm, as required.
  • Coordinate with the Addis Ababa procurement team to ensure that procurement requests and relevant supporting documents are properly processed and recorded in the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Coordinate with the relevant departments to ensure that goods and services are procured according to approved specifications, required quantities, budgets, and delivery schedules.
  • Identify, assess, and maintain a database of reliable suppliers capable of providing quality goods and services at competitive prices.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with preferred suppliers to improve procurement efficiency, product quality, delivery time, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and conduct price comparisons in accordance with the company’s procurement requirements.
  • Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, payment terms, and other contractual conditions within the limits of delegated authority.
  • Maintain updated supplier records, price lists, product catalogues, and contact information.
  • Conduct supplier performance evaluations based on price, quality, reliability, responsiveness, and delivery performance.
